Prom event planning, how to...

May 9, 2018

Every high school has a prom committee, usually the juniors, that plans the prom for the seniors.  Some high schools have gotten smart and started the year before and some have even gotten smarter by bringing on a team of professionals to assist in some aspects  of prom so that its not so difficult. Of course it depends upon your budget and  typically how big the school is… that said, here are some of the things we have helped some of Colorado’s high school with for prom planning.

  • Agenda Development

  • Theme

  • Entertainment and Talent,  Live actors to bring prom alive

  • Event Design and Custom Created Decor and Lighting  (Custom décor, usually transforming a space into something extraordinary)

  • Venue Selection

  • Menu Selection

  • Invitations

  • Promotional Items

  • Graphic Design, Collateral Pieces and Signage

  • Detailed Logistics Planning

  • Onsite Event Management

  • Site and Venue Selection

  • Travel, Accommodations and Transportation Services

  • Vendor Selections

  • Vendor Negotiations

  • Event Website (complimentary)

  • Floor plans

  • Timelines

  • Out of town guests “things to do list”

  • Welcome packages for out of town guests

  • Event Day Management (starts 30 days in advance of event)

  • Service staff

  • Set up staff

  • Take down staff

  • Mock Tail Tenders

  • Theater quality large prop design team

  • Decor design with decor glitz fairy installation

Some themes the young adults have come up with and have had us help are:

  • Alice in Wonderland

  • Willy Wonka

  • Prom at the peak, a Colorado mountain top lodge with life size bears, mountain lions, and clear glass top under the stars.

  • Starry Night

  • Paris

  • New Orleans, we had floats, a parade, a tarot card reader and lots of fun.

  • 80s theme party, I know, right?!?!

  • White Party

  • Old West

  • Casino Night

  • James Bond

Just to name a few.

The first thing that needs to happen is to find a venue big enough to hold all of the attendees, has some charm, and doesn’t take the whole budget.  Easier said then done.  Then using the remaining part of the budget, trying to fit in… jaw dropping décor, tables, centerpieces, check in, coat check, food stations, drink stations, entertainment, DJ, and photos.   Don’t forget that it will take 3 times longer to set up then it is to take down.  Relying on a professional to assist you and get advice from to create an amazing night that you’ll remember forever, is by far going to be your life saver.

Remember, that Jennifer Lane Events and Event Décor Divas in Denver creates extraordinary events and even has financing options to help you get what you want and need to create that one of a kind event.   Call today for your 2019 prom needs.
